In this way was born Profili 1.0. Profili 1.0 and the following 1.1 and 1.2 walked along around the world, maybe because they were freeware. 
Many users asked me to add spars and template drawing, an advanced way to filter airfoils by parameters, and, above all, where they could find the polars for the airfoils in database. 
Adding all these function should be a hard work, and so it remained a long in the ‘TO DO’ box. 
Now (summer 2002) I decided: this is a good time to develop a new mayor version for Profili! 
And, as usually, add here and modify there, so that now the source code of Profili 2 counts more then 80,000 rows, a nice book of about 1,600 pages if printed. Add a lot of work to find and insert new airfoils and about 20 days x 24 hours of uninterrupted work for my poor PC to preprocess all the polars. 

And now: to pay or not to pay, this is the question! 
Or, in a more pragmatic way, should Profili 2 be still freeware? 
The answer, my friend, was blowing in the wind for a long time. 
I asked an opinion to many users, and so here is the way I decided to redistribute Profili 2:

•  If you think it isn’t worth much and you don’t like to register yourself and contribute to Profili development, well you can use it as the old 1.2 version. Something has been enhanced and added, but not a lot.
• Instead, if you acknowledge my work and decide to register yourself, contributing so to further Profili improvements, you will have full access to all the new advanced functions of version 2. 

Well, but what means registering? 
Two things: 

1.  To send me your data, so that I could keep a Profili users database, to be able to inform you (if you like) about new releases.
2. To contribute to Profili developing and enhancement with only a few money (I suggest 10 euro or the equivalent in your local currency), so that I could regain the money I spent and go on with the development.

I have a little problem with international cheques, I have a cost of about 8.5 euro/US$ to cash them.... too much!

I want specify that this money is considered a kind of voluntary offer so that you can contribute to Profili improvement. 
With that money you don ’t buy a license of an application, I don’t sell Profili. 
And, if you have a better idea to contribute, write me. I think my request isn’t exorbitant, but, if you think so, write me and tell me your opinion. 

If you have 2  PC no problem, I then will send you the registration password for your second  PC. The registration is to YOUR name, and so YOU can have password for YOURS PC. I think that isn't right a thing to ask money for every PC. I think this is the good approach to software distribution. If you have 2 PC you'll use them only one at a time, I suppose!
But please, don't ask me passwords for yours FRIEND!  
If you ask me 20 passwords in a year, I can suspect that you are distributing password to your friends, and I will stop to send them to you.
So this way to manage registration requires that users of Profili are as honest as I'm. Please don't take advantage of this by distributing passwords....
